What moms really want for Mother’s Day!

Whether this is your first Mother’s Day as a new mom or you’ve been celebrated as a mom for a few years (or more!), spouses (and older kids) are always looking for ideas for gifts that really show how much moms are appreciated :)

I’ve polled several of my current clients and friends and many offered suggestions that are more experiences and don’t necessarily require wrapping. Here are some “things” moms would really like:

  • Not having to cook or clean or play referee to sibling rivalry for the entire day

  • Moms with little kids – getting a full day (or even just a few hours) all to herself

  • Moms with older kids – spending time together as a family doing an activity everyone will enjoy…and genuine hugs from teenagers ;)

  • Being pampered – getting to take a long, uninterrupted bath, getting a massage or mani-pedi, etc

  • Sleeping in and then getting breakfast in bed

  • Appreciation – from a spouse and/or older kids – maybe a homemade card or coupon book or some other act of service that shows how much mom means to them

If you’re looking to actually wrap up a gift, here are some ideas:

These bamboo PJs are by far my FAVORITE – I have several sets and wear them year round. They’re silky but somehow temperature regulating.

For the mom who likes to read in bed, I always recommend using a low blue light reading light at bedtime so it doesn’t interfere with melatonin production. This is the one I love after trying a few others that would flicker or constantly need new batteries. It’s rechargeable with a USB cord – no batteries – and flicker-free!

If mom needs a new pair of cozy slippers, these have over 55K positive reviews on Amazon because they “feel like you’re walking on clouds”.

For the mom who wants some beauty pampering, this rose quartz roller feels so relaxing on the face while you’re watching tv or getting ready for bed. Helps serums/moisturizers absorb, reduce puffiness/circles around the eyes and reduce the appearance of fine lines. Especially nice for that new mom who’s up a few times a night for night feeds :)

For the mom who wants to share special memories with her older child, this journal let’s you swap stories and memories together in a keepsake book that will so fun to look at in future years. There’s a mother-son version and a mother-daughter version. What a special keepsake to have for each child!

If you’re looking for a funny gift, this t-shirt is perfect for that mom who is always chauffeuring the kids to sports :)

Soon the weather will be warm and the neighbors will be gathering for barbeques…this is a great gift for that mom who is always telling her child, that her beverage is “mommy’s juice!”

And, of course, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention sleep! If your child is not sleeping through the night and the pediatrician has said he or she is developmentally ready to do so (or only naps while being held by mom), there is nothing a husband could give his wife on Mother’s Day that would be better than the gift of sleep. If you’d like to gift her sleep training, I can send you a certificate so she has something to open on her special day :)
