I’ve been in your shoes.
Assuming those shoes belong to an exhausted, frustrated and confused parent!
My name is Kim Schaf and I am the proud owner of Sleep Training Solutions, and more importantly, I’m a mom who struggled through sleep deprivation with my second child and know just how you’re feeling right now.
You see, my second son was a ridiculously terrible sleeper, especially compared to his older brother. (Son #1 slept like a superstar, almost from the beginning…but weighing over 10 pounds at birth, he had a head start!)
My little guy, however, was still waking up 4 times each night at 18 months…and showing no signs of ever figuring it out on his own.
A big “something” that contributed to our crazy sleep was that he was born with a rare skin condition (1:500,000). Knowing that his childhood would be chock full of surgeries (he’s 5 now and has had major 12 surgeries…), I didn’t worry about any bad habits I was creating for him. I just wanted him to sleep and be comfortable.
I often cuddled him for naps or most of the night.
Or I would swaddle him, strap him in the swing, pop in a pacifier, put the mobile on above his head with the lights and music and turn up the white noise in his room.
Or I would make sure he was in DEEP sleep before getting up from the glider, walking very slowly to the crib, gently lowering him down inch by inch, then removing one hand at a time and dropping to the floor and army crawling out.
And these “techniques” only resulted in about 30 minutes of sleep. Looking back, that was a LOT of work for very little “reward” (aka sleep)!

I tried to love him to sleep.
Little did I know that teaching him to sleep would’ve worked better…
So I set out in search of answers because I knew being exhausted wasn’t helping us to be the best parents we could be and each of us needed much more sleep to be healthy and productive…and HAPPY!
After finding and implementing a program that would work for our family…
He started sleeping 12 hours in his crib and taking long, restful naps. Without needing me to do anything?!
Instead of sugar plums, I had visions of snuggling in my cozy bed, next to my husband, all night, knowing everyone was going to get a good night’s sleep. FINALLY!
Fast forward a couple of years and I’m offered an opportunity to attend a comprehensive training and mentorship program with one of the world’s leading child sleep experts…and I jumped at the chance!
Now I have this thriving business, am the Midwest Director for the Association of Professional Sleep Consultants, and am frequently asked to speak at pediatrician offices, preschools, mom’s groups and corporations…oh, and my little guy is an AMAZING sleeper!
(Prior to sleep training, after each surgery, we were in for a week of hard(er) nights where he just couldn’t get comfortable. Now? He sleeps 12 hours comfortably and he recuperates faster. Sleep is so restorative!)
After my experience with our sleep issues, I’m excited to help other parents climb out of that deep, dark, sleepless hole…and ideally save them from falling in in the first place!
